What is a muffler?
If you’ve ever heard a car driving without a muffler, you know what a huge difference it makes in terms of sound. Inside a muffler, you’ll find a system, more complex than it seems, of perforated tubes. These tubes and chambers are finely tuned, much like a musical instrument. They are designed to harmonize with the sound waves produced by the engine in such a way that they partially cancel each other out.
What is a resonator?
Some vehicles are equipped with a resonator that works together with the muffler to further reduce the noise produced by the engine. The resonator looks like a muffler, contains a specific volume of air, and is the exact length needed to suit your vehicle, helping to cancel out certain exhaust sound frequencies.
