How Does Your Air Conditioner Work?
In fact, your car’s air conditioner works exactly like a domestic compression refrigerator. A circuit composed of multiple components, your automotive air conditioning system uses a refrigerant mixed with a special oil to transition from a liquid to a gaseous state. This process is what cools the cabin of your vehicle.
Essentially, what we call air conditioning refers to all the means used to maintain the cabin atmosphere at a given pressure, humidity level, and temperature.
However, when a leak occurs, the chemical process that allows the refrigerant to transition to a gaseous state will become much more difficult, eventually causing damage to the compressor—the most expensive part of the system.
